Before you update
KineticHub updates may include:
- Bug fixes
- Performance improvements
- WordPress compatibility changes
- Security improvements
- New block controls
- Visual or responsive refinements
Your KineticHub blocks and their content are stored inside WordPress pages and posts. Updating the plugin should not remove those blocks.
However, create a recent website backup before updating an important production website.
Your backup should include:
- WordPress files
- The database
- Uploaded media
- Theme and plugin settings
For business or client websites, testing the update on a staging website is recommended.
Check which version is installed
Go to:
Plugins → Installed Plugins
Locate KineticHub and check:
- Whether you are using KineticHub Free or KineticHub PRO
- The currently installed version
- Whether an update is available
Do not keep KineticHub Free and KineticHub PRO active at the same time.
Update KineticHub Free
KineticHub Free receives updates through the standard WordPress plugin update system.
Update from the Plugins screen
- Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins
- Locate KineticHub – Animated Blocks
- Review the available version information
- Select Update now
- Wait for WordPress to confirm that the update completed
Do not close the browser tab while the update is running.
Update from the WordPress Updates screen
You can also go to:
Dashboard → Updates
Select KineticHub and run the plugin update.
Update KineticHub PRO
KineticHub PRO receives updates through Freemius when:
- The PRO plugin is active
- The license is active on the website
- The website can connect to the Freemius update service
When an update is available:
- Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins
- Locate KineticHub PRO
- Select Update now
- Wait for the update confirmation
If the automatic update is not available, download the latest KineticHub PRO ZIP package from the Freemius Customer Portal.
Update KineticHub PRO manually
Use the manual method only when the normal update option is unavailable.
1. Download the latest package
Sign in to:
customers.freemius.com
Open your KineticHub purchase and download the latest PRO ZIP file.
Do not extract the ZIP.
2. Open the WordPress plugin uploader
Go to:
Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin
Choose the new KineticHub PRO ZIP file and select Install Now.
3. Replace the installed version
WordPress may detect that the plugin is already installed.
Review the version information and choose:
Replace current with uploaded
Wait for WordPress to complete the replacement.
Replacing the plugin files does not remove the KineticHub blocks already stored in your pages.
4. Confirm activation
After installation, return to:
Plugins → Installed Plugins
Confirm that KineticHub PRO is active.
Also check that the license is still connected under the KineticHub or Freemius account screen.
Clear caches after updating
Cached CSS or JavaScript may cause the old KineticHub behavior to remain visible after an update.
Clear the following caches when applicable:
- Browser cache
- WordPress caching plugin
- LiteSpeed Cache
- Server or hosting cache
- CDN cache
- CSS and JavaScript optimization cache
- Object cache
Then reload the page in a private browser window.
If your optimization plugin combines or delays JavaScript, regenerate its optimized files after the KineticHub update.
Verify the update
After updating, check the plugin version under:
Plugins → Installed Plugins
Then test the following:
- Open the KineticHub dashboard
- Confirm that the dashboard loads correctly
- Open a page containing KineticHub blocks
- Confirm that the blocks load in the editor
- Preview the page on the frontend
- Test interactive effects
- Check desktop and mobile layouts
- Confirm that no browser console or WordPress errors appear
Review pages containing complex blocks such as:
- Kinetic Hero Mesh
- Kinetic Split Scroll
- Kinetic Box
- Kinetic Audio Player
- Kinetic Video Modal
Recommended update workflow
For an important website, use this order:
- Create a complete backup
- Copy the website to staging
- Update KineticHub on staging
- Clear all caches
- Test important pages
- Check mobile and desktop layouts
- Update the production website
- Clear production caches
- Verify the live pages
Avoid updating many major plugins, WordPress core, and the active theme at the same time.
Updating one component at a time makes it easier to identify the source of a problem.
Do not edit plugin files directly
Any manual changes made inside the KineticHub plugin folder may be overwritten during an update.
Do not edit files under:
/wp-content/plugins/kinetichub/
or the installed KineticHub PRO plugin folder.
Use supported block settings, theme styles, or safe custom CSS methods instead.
Troubleshooting
The update is not available
Confirm that:
- The website can access external update services
- WordPress scheduled tasks are working
- The PRO license is active, when using KineticHub PRO
- A security or firewall plugin is not blocking update requests
You can also go to:
Dashboard → Updates
and select Check again.
The update failed
Do not repeatedly run the update without checking the error.
Possible causes include:
- Insufficient file permissions
- Low PHP memory
- A server timeout
- Low disk space
- A connection problem
- A plugin ZIP upload limit
Create or confirm a current backup before retrying.
The site shows a maintenance message
WordPress may temporarily display:
Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance
This normally disappears after the update finishes.
If it remains, check the WordPress root directory for a .maintenance file and remove it only after confirming that the update process has stopped.
The editor shows old controls
Clear browser and WordPress caches.
Then reload the editor using a hard refresh or open it in a private browser window.
A block looks different after updating
First clear all cached CSS and JavaScript.
Then review the block settings and test whether the active theme or optimization plugin is overriding the updated styles.
Do not immediately remove and recreate the block, because this may delete its saved settings.
The frontend is broken after updating
Restore the most recent backup or roll back to the previous plugin version.
Then test the update on staging before attempting it again on the live website.
Collect the following information before contacting support:
- KineticHub version before and after the update
- WordPress version
- PHP version
- Active theme
- Relevant cache or optimization plugins
- A screenshot or short video of the issue
- Browser console errors, when available
